The development is situated in one of the most picturesque towns on the Black sea shore – the town of Balchik. Except with beauty, Balchik is full of places, which bring the memory for notable historical moments in this area. The biggest historical monument in the town is the Palace – the former summer residence of the Romanian queen Maria. The Palace was build in 1924. Queen Maria, who had an English origin, spend a lot of her childhood in Egypt, where she took the Bahai religion – an unusual mixture of Christian and Islam elements. That is why lots of oriental, Thracian, Roman and Christian symbols that meet in the Palace, decorating the colonnades, the arcs, the fountains and the Venetian bridges. The palace astonishes with its remarkable architecture. After the queen died her heart was laid in the temple of the Palace.
The little piece of Heaven that every tourist of Balchik should visit is the Botanic garden. It was created in 1955th on the territory of the park in the Palace. Today, collections of plant species from all over the world are situated on the area of 65 decares. About 2000 kinds of plants that impress with an incredible diversity of colors and shapes are grown here. The Botanic garden in Balchik is second of its kind, after the one in Monaco. A remarkable temple of the historical heritage of Bulgaria is the Ethnographic museum. The museum is settled in a beautiful restored house of a local wheat salesman, which brings every of its guests in the authentic atmosphere of the life in Bulgaria in the end of the 19th century.
In the Historical museum in the town of Balchik unique finds, that illustrate the material culture of the population. The exposition includes ceramic and glass objects, epigraphic monuments, a collection of coins, and the dynamic public, political and economic life of Balchik after the Liberation in 1878 is presented through documents and pictures. Another tempting in the town is The Renaissance complex, where the church “St. Nicola”, build in the middle of the 19th century, fascinates with its Renaissance architecture. The patron of the church – St. Nicola is a patron of the salesman and fisherman.
