Based on the sold trips and shown interest GIATA - Hoteldatenbank Ranking classifies the destinations from the last month compared with the same month last year. In their analysis they have included data from 60 000 hotels and around 20 000 purchases of tourist products (tickets and holiday packages) from the 75 most popular German tour operators.

While ranked 19 last year, this year Bulgaria is number 8 in the ranking. In this instance though they have not only included trips made in 2007, but also already booked trips for balneological programs during March and April 2008.

As well as last year, this year’s pole is headed by Spain and Turkey, followed by Greece in the number 3 position, while Egypt is in fourth place. A decreased interest is recorded towards trips to Portugal and Italy.

GIATA’s ranking comes just a week after “The Times” newspaper ranked Bulgaria as No: 9 in the most desirable winter destinations in Great Britain.
