Bulgaria is the 54th most popular tourism destinations in the world. A total of 124 countries were included in the list, elaborated by Word Economic Forum (WEF) and comparing the countries’ travel and tourism competitiveness. Switzerland, Austria and Germany took the top three positions in the ranking. To compare travel and tourism competitiveness WEF considered indices such as regulatory framework, business environment and infrastructure and human cultural and natural resources. Bulgaria was 66th in the regulatory framework index ranking. The index evaluates sub-indices like policy rules and regulations, environmental regulations, safety, security, health and hygiene. The country reached 56th place in business environment and infrastructure index list, evaluating local air and ground transport and tourism infrastructure. Bulgaria’s most advanced position is in the human, cultural and natural resources index list, 41st.
