Italy: Investments in the Balkans are highly profitable

The Italian daily newspaper “La gazeta del Mezzodgiorno” generalize today the results from the 71st edition of the international exhibition “Fiera del Levante” held in Bari. The general impression from all the meetings and conferences held during the exhibition is that investments in the Balkans region are highly profitable. It is not possible to resist the temptation to invest in counties like Bulgaria, where the government brings in the “flat tax” since 2008 for everybody, i.e both the individuals and the companies will pay tax in amount of 10%. A good opportunity for investments offers Romania as well, because 30 billion Euros will be received for the period 2007- 2013 from the EU funds. The final session held in Bari was under the topic “Strategies, ideas and projects for internationalization of the Italian companies in the South-East Europe”. It is no accident that the World Bank has targeted most of its investments and credits toward the South-East Europe. Traditionally these investments were earmarked for Latin America.
