255 million euros investments in the mountain center
“The sports-tourist center Perelic” received a first grade investment certificate on Friday by the Executive Director of Bulgarian Investment Agency Stoian Stalev. The company project is based on the creation of a complex system – a mountains zone and facilities for winter sports and summer tourism, improvement of the infrastructure and the organization on the territory of the town of Smolian and the villages of Stoikite, Gela, Stikl and Mugla. Within the project there will be in progress a modern center, created in the spirit of the local architecture and culture. The resort is to include a system of ski-slopes, ski-equipment and facilities, 24 lifts,ski-slopes, convenient covered parking-places, resting places, places for sport and amusement, as well as the hotel base and apartments. Stoian Stalev mentioned the necessity of serious state investment in the construction of the road infrastructure nearby the future complex. He pointed out the maintenance of the road connection with Greece and undermined that the resort will attract tourists not only from our southern neighbor-country, but from the whole Balkan region. The investment plan of “The sport-tourist center Perelic”, financed by the Bulgarian and international financial institutions, is estimated at about 255 million euros. In the first 3 years of the implementation of the project the investments will be at about 94 million euros. The company has the ambition and the financial resources to begin the realization of the project in the autumn of 2006. The complex will offer excellent nature conditions as winter ski tourism, as well as summer mountain tourism. Later on is to be the construction of a congress center and a golf-terrain. The main transport to be used are the transport lines, together with the parking-plots at the first stations. The slopes are constructed according to the latest standards of this sport discipline and are approximately 55 km long. The company plans to use mainly bare plain parts for the infrastructure such as slopes, parking-lots and others facilities. The construction itself at the highest parts is to be limited and over 1600m there will be only required facilities. The extra construction is planned only for the special zones and is in convenience with the ecological requirements. Besides very strict rules will be applied in order to minimize the influence of the environment. The purpose is the highest parts of the Perelic slope to be used for the construction of food, medical, administrative, informacion centers and stations, situated in the defined zones. The company plans to plant 35-40% more trees, than to abolish them for the construction of the future modern ski-slopes.
